Payments & payouts

Last updated: July 2026

Kinder Change is designed to make celebrating feel gentler, more thoughtful, and less pressured — while keeping payments and payouts secure and transparent.

How are payments processed?

All contributions on Kinder Change are processed securely through Stripe, one of the world's leading payment platforms.

Kinder Change does not store your full card details.

Where does the money go?

When someone contributes to a celebration, payments are securely processed through Stripe and tracked within Kinder Change until the authorised person confirms withdrawal.

That person is typically the organiser when the celebration is for themselves, or the accepted recipient when the celebration was created for someone else and recipient payouts apply.

This allows us to:

  • protect contributor privacy
  • support event deadlines and wrap-up flows
  • apply moderation and fraud protections where needed
  • calculate any applicable fees clearly before withdrawal
  • support optional charity allocations at withdrawal

When do payouts happen?

The authorised person for a celebration can request withdrawal once the celebration has closed.

Before confirming withdrawal, they will always see:

  • total amount raised
  • any applicable platform or processing fees
  • any optional spotlight charity allocation
  • final payout amount

Once confirmed, funds are released securely through Stripe to their connected payout account.

If this is your first payout through Stripe, it may take longer while Stripe completes its initial review. In some cases, this can take up to around 7–14 days. Subsequent payouts usually follow that account's Stripe payout schedule. Exact arrival times can vary with Stripe verification and the receiving bank. This is a normal part of Stripe's payout process. You can check your payout status at any time from your Kinder Change dashboard by selecting “Manage payout details”. If your payout takes significantly longer than expected, please contact Kinder Change Support and we'll be happy to help.

Who withdraws the funds?

If you create a celebration for yourself, you remain responsible for connecting your bank account and withdrawing funds.

If you create a celebration for someone else and recipient payouts are enabled, the invited recipient becomes responsible for connecting their own bank account and withdrawing funds once they have accepted the celebration.

Why do I need to connect Stripe?

Stripe allows the person receiving a celebration payout to:

  • receive payouts securely
  • manage their payout details safely
  • update bank information when needed

Kinder Change does not store bank account details directly.

Can payout details be changed later?

Yes. You can manage or update your payout details securely through Stripe at any time.

Are contribution amounts public?

No.

Contribution amounts are always kept private.

If contributors choose to leave a message, their message may be visible on the event page, but donation amounts are never displayed publicly.

Does Kinder Change charge fees?

Kinder Change charges a platform fee only when funds are withdrawn. Fees are tiered according to the total amount raised, with a minimum fee of £4. Kinder Change covers Stripe's processing costs, so contributors are not charged separately.

You'll always see the exact platform fee before confirming a withdrawal.

View full fee scheduleSee how the fee changes at different contribution totals.

Each rate applies to the full amount raised for that celebration. The total amount raised determines which tier applies, and that percentage is applied to the whole amount. A £4 minimum applies in the lowest tier when the percentage would otherwise be lower.

  • Up to £50.00: 12% (of the full amount raised, with a minimum fee of £4.00)
  • Over £50.00 up to £200.00: 8% (of the full amount raised)
  • Over £200.00 up to £1,000.00: 5% (of the full amount raised)
  • Over £1,000.00: 3% (of the full amount raised)

Here are a few examples to illustrate how the platform fee works:

  • £30.00 raised → platform fee £4.00 → £26.00 available to the recipient before any optional charity choice
  • £120.00 raised → platform fee £9.60 → £110.40 available to the recipient before any optional charity choice
  • £500.00 raised → platform fee £25.00 → £475.00 available to the recipient before any optional charity choice
  • £2,000.00 raised → platform fee £60.00 → £1,940.00 available to the recipient before any optional charity choice

There are no additional Stripe charges for organisers or contributors. Kinder Change covers Stripe's processing costs within the platform fee shown above.

Is Kinder Change a charity?

Kinder Change is a platform that helps people celebrate in a more thoughtful and meaningful way.

Some celebrations may include optional charity contributions chosen at withdrawal.
